Thanks a lot, a whole lot for the "devil's staircase" video. I am so glad to read your ideas about classical music. At 45, I am among the youngest in the hall when I go and see The Montreal Symphony Orchestra with Kent Nagano, and that's just too bad! There is just so much to live and feel though classical music. Everyone would be able to find something he or she likes if he or she would just take the time to listen. I love classical music because what one given piece makes me think about is different from what another person will think, listening to the same piece. But I think these days some people need to be told what to think when listening to classical music, as you have done in the Devil's Staircase video. Congratulations! When are you coming to Montreal?

Greg Anderson's "Fantasia on Dives and Lazarus," a set of variations on an English folk tune, was grandly rhapsodic yet crafted with intellectual integrity. The Browns aced the bracing counterpoint with clarity and breezy showmanship.

Greg Anderson brought the audience to it's feet with shouts of "bravo, bravo!" He left this reviewer at loss for words.

at once a small satire on and an act of homage to the great Viennese master of the frivolous and the joyous. ... It has an elegance and a romance that is of another time. The seduction paid off...
Their hand movements and the intertwining of arms, and it seemed at times of fingers, was elaborately and brilliantly choreographed. There were times when their hands seemed magically to occupy the same space, though they were playing different notes. The entire process was a small ballet of the hands, as wonderful to watch as to hear.

It is often said that young musicians today have razor-sharp technique, but they lack individuality. This cannot be said of these two young performers. The technique is beyond question, but they have personalities, both musical and personal that are completely distinctive and a joy to discover.
